In the words of Levi Morgan “It depends on how far down I can move my sight before it hits the arrow.“
All depends on the situation. My furthest kill shot on a deer was 54 yds. It was mid February with a light dusting of snow on the ground. No foliage on the trees or shrubs and a clear shooting range from an elevated tree stand. Perfect heart shot deer only went 40yds.
Well I use a Summit Viper climber..... I try to get up at least 20 feet..... I have a rangefinder on my Crossbow and like shots no farther than 40 yds.... At that distance I can get a complete pass thru with no problem..... I hunt Whitetail deer here in VA..... I do also hunt from a ground blind.... Now 25 feet up and a pass thru the bolt sticks in the ground not much farther than the deer was.... But in a ground blind with a pass thru the bolt travels a good distance and a lighted nock really helps in finding the bolt....
